Audacity Sign Up Mobile App Technical Presentation
Since 2020, our nonprofit organization has been serving the community through multiple year-round / recurring volunteer projects (music, dance, art and academic ) that involve community member signup. In the past, our sign up process was haunted by technical barriers, which limited community participation in our programs. To address this issue, Eternity Band IT Team, a group of 5 high school students, developed the Audacity Sign Up app for iOS & Android, using Figma, React Native, JavaScript, and the Expo Framework with advanced techniques such as version control and continuous integration (CI). The app successfully reduces the time needed for our signup process to under 1 minute and allows users to sign up most of our volunteer projects in one centralized location, bringing our programs closer to our volunteers and the public. This Saturday, Nov 2 at 7PM, our IT team will present this new app over Zoom. They will go through the technical inner works of the software and share their ups and downs in the last 5 months. If you are a high school student interested in mobile development, team-based projects, or just programming in general, come take a listen and consider joining our team. If you think our app can be useful to your own public / volunteer project, please feel free to reach out for collaboration. If you are a participant of our community music, art, dance or the academic volunteer projects, please download, rate, and comment on the app using the links below so our team can make improvements. Everyone is welcome to join our presentation at the link above. Piano:Ready?Go! (PRG2023)

Last summer Audacity Academy in collaboration with AC Library offered an online beginner piano tutoring program called Piano:Ready?Go! (PRG2022), which covered beginner piano technique and pieces, as well as beginning music theory / history / appreciation. The program successfully inspired about a dozen kids to embark on the journey of formal piano learning. Several of them have been active participants of our year-round Library Music Hour community concerts. This summer, we are bringing back this awesome program (PRS2023) with some upgrades. There will still be 5 consecutive Tuesday Zoom sessions between 5:30-6:30 starting on July 11. On Aug 12, an IN PERSON graduation recital will be held at Fremont Main Library, as a part of Fremont Library Music Hour that day. We are looking for high student volunteers to tutor very young beginner pianists. Volunteers need to be in 9th grade or higher by the school year 2023-2024, with 3 years of consecutive formal piano learning experience. — Each one hour Zoom session will earn two volunteer hours, includes preparation time. — In each session one tutor can volunteer to present the materials of the day with provided slides, and earns 1 extra volunteer hour. ( 3 hours in total for that session ) — Volunteer tutors can choose whether or not to attend our person recital, which also comes with 2 volunteer hours — Volunteer hours can be approved by Fremont Main Library or FUN Youth, a 501c3 nonprofit and PVSA certification organization www.funyouth.us If you are interested, please fill this form, which requires a 2-4 minutes audition recording of your self-introduction and repertoire to demonstrate reasonable maturity and skills. We look forward to having you on our team! Contact Information Email: admin@goaudacity.com

A few notes on making personalized messages
-- Personal messages should be hand written on thick pieces of paper or greeting cards
-- Messages should be positive but brief
-- Please sign your initial and age at the end

Pandemic and rising housing costs are filling homeless shelters with people.  It would be nice if someone can provide beanies and scarves to help them through winters.

This is a project by Audacity Academy and LTN Family Association, led by Audacity Academy member Anisha Pallikonda.  Participants will raise funds by teaching volunteer classes to buy materials and then make scarves to be donated to homeless shelters.

This is a year round project.  At least 400 scarves are needed each year.  Finished scarves are delivered to homeless shelters between November – March.

You can support this project by

— Join our groups and provide suggestions

—  Commit to make scarves ( We suggest only residents of Fremont / Newark / Union City residents join physical scarves making due to logistics challenges. )

— Donate towards material purchases

Update: Our first phase of the project will deliver 400+ scarves to homeless shelter by November 2021.  Once first phase is completed, we will start a new phase.  Please stay tuned !

All About Pre K / K with Ms. Amy

19 years is a very long time, isn’t it?  Well, this is almost the minimum amount of time that our children will spend on their long journey of education through college.  And this journey starts with Pre K and K, which is one of the most “teachable” period in people’s lives.  Therefore giving our children a great start can have positive impact throughout this arduous journey!

The Audacity Academy Club is honored to have experienced Pre K / K teacher Ms. Amy as our volunteer to discuss specifics of Pre K / K education, including the challenges facing dual language families during online learning.  Through 1 seminar and 4 demonstration classes, Ms. Amy will go over expectation of rising Pre K, Kindergarten and Grade 1 students as well as some general information for these grades.

June 21  5:30 PM PST     Pre K  / K Seminar / Q&A

June 22  5:30 PM PST     Pre K  Demonstration Class

June 23  5:30 PM PST     K Demonstration Class – Phonics & Spelling

June 24  5:30 PM PST     K Demonstration Class – Composition / ELA

Ms. Amy is a state certified teacher and majors in childhood development.  She has many years of experience as a main teacher for Pre K / K classes in public and private schools.  More information about this program can be found at https://goaudacity.com/courses/

After helping 56 students, this project was successfully concluded

Adopt a 2021 Graduate @ JLHS

The courses being offered are:

Persuasive writing and Debate by Ryan Zheng  (6:30pm-7:15pm, Sunday, 5/16)

Introduction to Speech by Sanah Suri  (6:30pm-7:15pm, Monday, 5/17)
