Planting The Seeds of Change
Insect Conservation

By Biotopia @ Basis Independent Fremont

The Monarch Butterfly population, among other insects in California, has decreased by over 90% as of 2025. We are now facing an ‘insect apocalypse’. By participating in Planting The Seeds of Change you will learn the challenges insects face due to urbanization, and how you can help them yourselves. We will emphasize topics about conservation while providing a hands-on flower planting workshop, and at the end, you can take home a native flower of your own to begin your garden! Newark Library Sat Jan 11 10:30 www.goaudacity.com/stem

The event was successfully concluded. Biotopia hosts periodic seedling giveaways to introduce people into gardening which helps with habitat restoration. Refer to Biotopia.blog for details.

Engineering With Arduino

Get ready for some hands-on fun with 'Engineering with Arduino' at Newark Library! This exciting workshop series will introduce you to the awesome world of DIY Electronics and Engineering through Arduino. Over four action-packed sessions, you’ll learn about the basics of engineering thinking. Join us for an adventure in electronics; build your own weather sensor and a fun project to take home! No experience needed—just bring your curiosity and enthusiasm!
This project is a collaboration between Audacity Academy and Newark Library, hosted by Samskrith Raghav, a rising senior at Bellarmine College Preparatory and a member of Team 254, finalists at the FRC World Championship 2024
Project completed successfully. Congratulations !

Science Mentorship Workshop

Following a 4 week program with zoom lessons Monday through Thursday each week, students grades 6-8 will learn all the necessities for participating in their county science and engineering fair. Some of these tools include formulating a research question, planning a quality project, applying the scientific method and engineering design process, data analysis techniques, and much more. Additionally, students will learn how to discuss their projects with science fair judges through mock interviews, as well as by creating and presenting a slideshow on a research question of their choice. Students will be mentored by Nandini Verma, a student at American High School who has been participating in her local science fairs since kindergarten. She is an Alameda County Science and Engineering Fair Grand Award winner, state finalist, Top 300 Broadcom MASTERS national finalist, and American Psychological Association Award winner. Her mentorship will help prepare students for participation in their county science fair.

If you are interested in starting your science project ahead of school year, don't miss this opportunities!

Experience

Audacity Workshop started in the summer of 2020, with offering in 4 subjects for 1 school grade.  Since then we have gradually increased our offering to 30+ subjects overing most middle to high school core subjects.

Dedication

We continuously measure the effectiveness of our work through student surveys and parents discussions.  This allows us to steadily improve our methodology and expand our offering.

Impact

Each year, hundreds of students benefit from our year round workshops ( AWS and AWW programs ). Also check out our other programs that benefit the wider community at our “Project” page !
