AWS summer program runs on ALL weekdays.  No break or holiday.

Ask questions in the Google Chat groups

Students submit questions encountered through Questions Submission Google Form.  The instructor will fill the answers on the Q&A Google Sheet.

At 7pm on weekdays, students join our online sessions and our instructors will briefly go over the materials of the day, answer any remaining questions, and challenge students understanding through live interaction.  

Live session time is divided into different subjects and therefore is short.  Student are expected to learn on their own for the most part, and use the Q&A mechanism / Google Chat groups to address most of the problems encountered.  The live session time is best devoted to the most tricky problems.

Audacity Academy uses Google apps to run Audacity Workshop. For Google apps to work the best, it is recommended that all instructors and students use Chrome Browser while signed into their Google account.

1   Google Chat

After registration, all instructors and students are invited to their Google Chat session groups, where they can find the organization sheet, which contains information such as live session link, calendar, instructor information, lesson plans and online Q&A mechanisms. Any questions, comments, or suggestions are also exchanged in the Google Chat session groups. Without knowing how to accept invitation to join the groups, or stay on top of the messages every day, it is impossible to follow Audacity Workshops. So everyone must have Google Chat installed and learn how to use it.

2   Google Sheets

Our organization sheet is a Google Sheet. Also each session has an Google Sheet that contains the answer from the instructors, addressing questions submitted through Question Submission Google Form.  ( http://sheets.google.com/ )

3   Google Forms

We use Google Forms for sign up information collection and question submission in each session. ( http://forms.google.com/ )

It’s a view only Google Sheet that lists almost everything students need as a part of the Workshop, such as live session Zoom link,  list of instructors, Questions Submission Google Forms links, Q&A Google Sheet links, Subject Tabs, Time Table / Special Guests, and a lot more.  

Subject Tabs are our lesson plans for each subject, where curriculum topics are listed by days of week, if applicable.  

We sent out the link to the organization sheet in our Google Chat / Hangouts groups.  If you join late, please ask in the groups, and someone will share the link.  Please bookmark the organization sheet because you will need it every day!

For weekly workshop, there is no expectation.

For summer workshop, expect 1.5 hours of self study per subject.

You take the subjects you like with the time you would like to spend.  Students can go to any session at any time.

Yes.  All our instructors will be there during the live sessions.

Two ways:  1. Ask questions in the session Google Chat group.  2.  Use our online Q&A mechanism

Follow the links on the Organization Sheet to the Question Submission Google Forms for your subject / session.  Fill the form with your questions, and upload your illustration if necessary.  Your instructor’s answers will appear on the Q&A Google Sheet, also linked to the Organization sheet.  If you don’t understand the answers from the instructor, you can ask again during  daily live sessions. 

Although Q&A can also take place in our Google Chat / Hangouts groups, we recommend students to use the Q&A mechanism above, which is visible to all students.  This way the Q&A efforts can benefit everyone else too.

Please review the Q&A sheet of your session before you join.  Join our Zoom conference through the link on the Organization Sheet and enter breakout rooms for different sessions.  You are welcome to visit all our breakout rooms.  If you don’t have any questions, you are still encouraged to participate in live sessions and have your understanding challenged.

Weekly Workshops has no curriculum and meet Weekly on Sunday YEAR ROUND, except for holidays and breaks.  Summer Workshops has daily curriculum and meets on ALL weekdays throughout summer.
